About SNCC

Sierra Nevada Children’s Choir, SNCC, was founded in 2006 and is currently in its 7th performance season.  Choir members rehearse together at a local church for 1 hour and 45 minutes each week.   Our musical repertoire is a variety of classical music written or arranged for children’s voices.  The majority of our songs are taken from 20th  and 21st century literature.  Our singers attend schools throughout northern Nevada.
SNCC has had numerous opportunities to perform and collaborate with outstanding musicians.  Most recently, SNCC performed with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra in their 2012 Spirit of the Season production.  The choir was honored to perform with the Reno Pops Orchestra in December 2011.  SNCC traveled to Denver for Sing a Mile High choir festival in 2012, and to China for the World Choir Games in 2010.  In 2007, SNCC performed the children’s chorus selections in the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra’s performance of Carmina Burana and performed for the Philharmonic’s Spirit of the Season concerts in 2008 and 2009.  SNCC has also performed with the University of Nevada, Reno Choirs, Carson Chamber Singers, Carson City Symphony, and Artown Discover the Arts performances.
Currently, Sierra Nevada Children’s Choir is comprised of 80 singers in three choirs:  Con Brio, a choir for children in 1st – 4th grades; Dolce, a choir for children in 4th-6th grades; and Bel Canto, a choir for singers in 7th-12th grades.
